Overview of Hide All IP VPN

Hide All IP website

Founded in 2014, Hide All IP VPN has been a leading voice in the fight for online privacy. The company is owned and operated by Network & Speed Inc, a Hong-Kong based company.

On their website, the provider claims to offer a one-click service that will hide your IP from snoopers and guard against hacker intrusions.

But while secure, the service does not do well when compared to premium VPNs like NordVPN that deliver high-end VPN security.

Hide All IP provides access to 150+ servers across 38 countries across the world.

In regards to compatibility, the service only supports Windows, Android, and iOS.

On the bright side, their prices are among the cheapest you can find.

They also provide a free 1-day trial (no registration required) and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Here are some of the main pros and cons of the VPN service.

Security – Protocols, Encryption & Features

Hide All IP VPN offers some exciting security and privacy features.

However, it does also lacks several key features that you would normally expect from a VPN, whether it’s a paid or free version.

Before we look at some of the security features that Hide All IP lacks, let me outline what you should expect from this service.

With Hide All IP VPN, all your connections, including UDP traffic, are protected by RSA 2048 and AES/DES encryption.

Is this the best security you can get today?

Absolutely not.

As mentioned earlier, AES 256-bit remains the gold standard in VPN encryption. The algorithm is not only more robust than RSA 2048, but also it’s much faster.

That said, Hide All IP is a reliable service, security-wise.

Unless you are an NSA agent or a prime target of hackers, RSA 2048 should be enough.

The VPN also disappoints when it comes to the choice of protocols.

It is one of the few services that I’ve used that doesn’t support any of OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPsec, and PPTP.

So, what does it combine its RSA 2048 encryption with?

By default, Hide All IP uses HTTP Tunneling. Although this protocol is not on the same level as OpenVPN, it does have some unmissable advantages.

Chief among them is its ability to readily bypass restrictions such as Firewalls and NATs and allow users to access remote networks easily.

Hide All IP is based in Hong Kong, a country that sits well outside the 5 eyes, 9 eyes, and 14 eyes spheres of influence.

Besides, Hong Kong does not impose any mandatory data retention laws, which is a huge plus.

Logging Policy – Is It Safe?

Besides being located in a privacy-friendly jurisdiction, the provider also maintains a transparent and trustworthy privacy policy.

They do not log your online activities or connection time stamps.

Does Hide All IP keeps any log?

Hide All IP admits to collecting your contact and payment information, such as your name and email address.

But this should worry you as the provider only uses this data to keep things running smoothly.

Hide All IP does not share this information with any third-party provider.

However, when it comes to legal compliance, the reality is alarming.

The company states that they may share your personal information with the authorities when required to.

But since the service does not keep any activity logs, it still gets a clean bill of health.

Speed Test – Is It Fast Enough?

From a company that goes by the name Network & Speed, you would be forgiven for expecting a super-fast performance.

Instead, Hide All IP delivers some of the worst speeds.

During my speed tests, the service slowed down my connections by as much as 92%, placing it among the most problematic VPNs.

When conducting the tests, I was using a baseline speed of 75 Mbps, and you can see the results in the table below.

Location Ping (ms) Download (Mbps) Upload (Mbps)
US (New York) 268 8.71 2.65
UK (London) 231 6.35 3.04
Hong Kong 297 7.09 2.02

Locations and Servers

Servers and Locations interface on the app

Hide All IP provides access to over 150 servers in 38 countries around the world.

While the server spread is commendable, the total number of servers is quite small. For comparison, the likes of ExpressVPN provide servers in their thousands and close to 100 locations.

Hide All IP’s global server coverage extends from the Asia Pacific to Europe, Middle East, Oceania, and the Americas.

Impressively, each server has a speed bar which enables you to find and select the fastest option.

Gaming Optimized Servers

One cool feature is that they provide gaming optimized servers.

Simply clicking the “Find the Best Server for Game” button, automatically connects you to the best option available.

Find the best server for game button

You can also rely on this feature for other bandwidth-intensive tasks like streaming, torrenting, and even good ol’ browsing.

Lacks Dedicated IPs

Hide All IP does not provide dedicated IPs.

While a shared IP is assigned to multiple people, a dedicated IP is given to a single user only.

This makes dedicated IPs hard to detect and block and as a result, more ideal for accessing streaming sites and local networks. Dedicated IPs also help avoid the frequent reCAPTCHA verification requests we usually encounter when using a VPN.

Streaming – Does Hide All IP VPN Support Netflix?

Netflix boasts an enormous catalog, and the streaming service is always adding new movies and TV shows.

However, to the frustration of many, the content library differs from one country to another. Shows like Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Parks & Recreation, and numerous movie titles are found in the US version only and as such, can’t be viewed from outside the country.

Luckily, with a VPN, you can be able to circumvent Netflix’s geo-restrictions and continue watching your favorite shows when traveling abroad.

However, not all VPNs can do the trick, and Hide All IP happens to be one of the many that don’t support Netflix.

I connected to all the US servers, and none worked with Netflix.

All I got was this error message:

The service doesn't work with Netlflix

Hopefully, Hide All IP will start expanding its server network and by so doing, offer reliable access to Netflix.

Even then, they will still also need to work on their connection speeds.

If streaming is your topmost priority, you can always check out our regularly updated list of the VPNs optimized for Netflix.

P2P – Is Hide All IP Good for Torrenting?

If you’re a torrenting fan, then you will be thrilled to know that this VPN does not restrict P2P traffic.

You can download torrents using any of their servers.

That said, when it comes to torrenting, what really matters is security.

Why? It’s simple.

When you are downloading files, anyone connected to the same torrent swarm as you can see your IP.

And with hackers and copyright trolls always lurking in the shadows, you would do better to use a robust VPN.

Hide All IP perfectly fits that bill.

However, I don’t recommend it due to its slow speeds.

Leaks - IP, DNS & WebRTC

To double-check the safety of Hide All IP, I ran a series of scans to test for IP, DNS, and WebRTC leaks.

The VPN performed well, and I can safely say I had no leaks whatsoever.

Here are the screenshots…

Checked for IP Leaks

No IP leaks were found

DNS Leaks

WebRTC Leaks

Hide All IP comes with a WebRTC Leak Prevention mode that allows you to block all WebRTC IP requests and completely hide your internet IP.

No WebRTC leaks

Limited Customer Support

Hide All IP customer support is underwhelming.

The only way you can contact them directly is via a contact form available on their website. Only after that can you be able to respond from your email client.

There is also an FAQ section which does have some valuable information.

Apart from these, the only other support option available is a knowledge base where you can find a few setup tutorials.

The provider lacks live chat, and 24/7 support and response can take days, especially on weekends.

Compatibility & Ease of Use

This is another area were Hide All IP lags far behind its competition.

While the VPN does support a couple of devices, it has a custom native app for Windows Only.

To use the VPN on the other compatible devices – iOS and Android – you will need to set up a Wi-Fi hotspot from the Windows VPN app and then manually configure your smartphone.

The Windows app is easy to set up and use.

However, the same cannot be said of the Android and iOS versions, which can be challenging to set up, especially if you are a novice.

Pricing and Payment Methods

Hide All IP has only one subscription plan, the yearly package available at $29.

Compared to what VPNs usually cost, I would say this is an incredible price.

Furthermore, the Hong Kong based VPN provides a full-featured 1-day free trial that allows you to get a taste of the premium option.

And that’s not all. Hide All IP also comes with a no-questions-asked 30-day money-back guarantee.

The company accepts over 45 payments through its e-commerce partner, Avangate. You can also pay directly via PayPal, Perfect Money, FastSpring, and Bitcoin.

What Do Customers Think About Hide All IP VPN?

As always, after reviewing this VPN, I went online and searched for other user feedback. There weren’t many comments on the service, but the few I found were rather negative.

Yes, a few users were pleased by Hide All IP’s security and privacy offerings, but overall, most users were displeased with the service.

Most complaints centered on the VPN’s slow speeds and its lack of ready-to-use smartphone apps.

What Should You Consider Before Getting a Service Like Hide All IP VPN?

Is the VPN Fast Enough?

It all depends on your bandwidth needs.

For streaming or gaming, you will need a VPN that not only has fast speeds but also low ping times.

As you probably already know, every VPN out there will slow down your internet connection.

However, the extent to which that happens varies from one VPN to another, with some being able to deliver neck-breaking speeds.

Protocols & Encryption

I also look at the level of security that a VPN provides.

AES 256-bit remains the most robust VPN encryption standard and but the RSA algorithm does not perform badly either.

As for the protocols, the recommended options are OpenVPN, IKEv2, and L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN being a step ahead thanks to its great balance between speed and security.

Jurisdiction + Logging Policy

While VPNs provide online privacy and security, they do so at the expense of speed.

Due to the data encryption and routing processes, most VPNs are notoriously slow and as such, frustrating to use.

Luckily, there are still several providers that offer fast and reliable connections allowing you to play high-graphic games and stream high definition videos without lags or buffering.

Global Server Coverage

Server distribution can make or break a VPN. Imagine wanting to access Denmark-only content only to find out your VPN doesn’t have a single server in the country.

It can be frustrating, right?

Always check whether your ideal VPN has servers in all your preferred locations.

How Quick Is Their Customer Service?

Just like any other software, VPNs are also prone to problems.

And even when the service is running smoothly, sometimes you may need help with your subscription.

In such a situation, a fast 24/7 customer support can come in quite handy.

Alternatives to Hide All IP VPN

Hide All IP isn’t known for its speed or number of servers.

The service also misses the mark when it comes to compatibility and the number of simultaneous connections.

Other VPNs like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, ProtonVPN, and Surfshark offer fast speeds, higher device compatibility, and multiple simultaneous connections.

NordVPN – Best Bang for Your Buck

NordVPN is an excellent VPN service that ticks all the right boxes.

The service provides lightning-fast speeds making it an ideal option for streaming, torrenting, and gaming.

When it comes to security and privacy, the provider leaves no stone unturned.

They use military-grade AES encryption on all server connections.

NordVPN also offers OpenVPN protocol, which Hide All IP lacks.

Only a few VPNs can match NordVPN’s server network.

The provider has over 5600 servers in 60 countries across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Africa.

With so many servers, geo-unblocking is a breeze.

NordVPN also has a SmartDNS feature (SmartPlay), which automatically provides access to streaming services.

You can use the service on almost any device, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, and routers.

Downsides? Not many to speak of.

The service supports 6 simultaneous connections per account, and it comes with a relatively affordable price tag.

ExpressVPN is another ultra-fast alternative for Hide All IP.
The service boasts 3000+ servers in 94 countries around the globe.

ExpressVPN is equipped with AES 256-bit encryption and supports all the major protocols, including OpenVPN and IKEv2. ExpressVPN is compatible with all primary devices and comes with sleek and easy to use apps.

ProtonVPN offers a slightly more extensive server network than Hide All IP VPN. With the VPN, you can access 430+ servers spread in 33 countries.

That said, their connections are much faster and more stable.

Again unlike Hide All IP, ProtonVPN supports SmartDNS allowing you to circumvent geo-blocks while also retaining your ISP speeds.

To top it off, ProtonVPN offers an incredible free version, albeit with some limitations.

Surfshark is an affordable Hide All IP alternative that offers bank-level encryption and fast connections. The VPN supports a wide range of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, FireTV, Apple TV, consoles, and routers.

With 1000+ servers in over 60 countries, you can easily find a server in your preferred location.

Final Word

Hide All IP VPN is a respectable budget VPN that offers great anonymity when online.

However, even for a lowly priced VPN, the service does score poorly in several key areas. It is extremely slow, and its incompatibility with OpenVPN protocol is a significant drawback.

If you are looking for a VPN with a vast server network, again, Hide All IP VPN may not be your most suitable option.

For streaming and other bandwidth-intensive uses, you would be better off with a speedy service like NordVPN.
