1. 15% of young people used a streaming service’s free trial before committing to a paid subscription.

In a 2021 survey, 15% of the age bracket 18-29 said they preferred to opt for a free trial before a paid subscription. This percentage doubled in older people. 

Likewise, 40% who went for a free trial later did a paid subscription.

2. 46% of people said the streaming service choice was becoming overwhelming.

2019 data shows over 640,000 unique titles across various US streaming platforms. As of February 2022, the number was 817,000. Thus, choosing a single streaming service was harder for the average user.

3. 72% said they loved their streaming services' user experience.

And another 93% plan to change their streaming services or stick with the ones they already have.

4. The global streaming market will be worth $1.69 trillion by 2029.

In 2020, international streaming demand was 5.7% greater than in 2019

Following that growth, the global streaming market is projected to grow from $473.39 billion in 2022 to $1.69 trillion in 2029.

5. 27% of UK internet users used two streaming services in 2022.

But another 23% did not even use any video streaming service at the time.

6. 49% of respondents felt that video and music streaming services should offer more group subscription options.

49% of Asian-Pacific respondents in a 2022 survey felt that more group subscription choices should be available on video and music streaming services. 

Most respondents from India expressed interest in group subscriptions, whereas those from Japan were more likely to express opposition.

7. Younger consumers tend to cancel and resubscribe.

Around 22% of streaming subscribers in Brazil, Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom canceled and resubscribed as of 2022. And in 2021, 25% of US customers who had previously subscribed to a streaming video service canceled it and resubscribed later.

This behavior is typical in the younger generation.

27. Netflix had the highest video streaming subscription market share in Mexico in 2021.

Its 63.5% market share beats other providers like Disney+ (12.6%) and HBO Max (9.3%) in the region by more than 5x.

28. 29% of young French respondents spent up to five hours weekly on streaming services.

In an April 2021 survey, almost 3 in 10 French respondents between 18-24 watched television via streaming services for one to five hours per week. This was higher than the global average for this age range, at 16%.
