Proton VPN Black Friday 2026: Up to 70% Off + When It Starts

Proton VPN hasn’t announced its 2026 Black Friday deal yet (I checked on 2 October 2026), but it’s unlikely to keep you waiting until the end of November. Last year Proton cut its 2-year VPN Plus plan to $2.49 a month ($59.76), 75% off, and the deal was already live on 28 October 2025, a full month early, according to TechRadar. Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, 27 November, and Cyber Monday on 30 November. I’ll update this page as soon as the new deal goes live.

You don’t have to wait for a discount, though. Proton’s own Black Friday page already sells the 2-year VPN Plus plan for $2.99 a month ($71.76), 70% off, which is exactly what its 2024 Black Friday deal cost. All prices here are in US dollars, before sales tax.

When Does Proton VPN’s Black Friday Sale Start?

Earlier than you might think. Here’s what Proton’s last two Black Friday deals looked like, going by its own pages and dated reports from TechRadar, Tom’s Guide, AppleInsider and PCWorld:

In 2025 the deal was still running on Cyber Monday (1 December), and Proton’s Black Friday page only switched to “Black Friday is over” later in December. Proton also discounted its Proton Unlimited bundle, which adds Proton Mail, Drive, Pass and Calendar to the VPN: 12 months cost $77.88 ($6.49 a month), according to AppleInsider.

With last year’s deal arriving at the end of October, Proton’s 2026 sale could start any day from mid-October.

Proton VPN Prices Today

On 2 October 2026, Proton’s Black Friday page and its checkout showed these prices:

Proton’s main pricing page still lists the 2-year VPN Plus plan at $3.49 a month ($83.76) and the 1-year plan at $4.49 ($53.88), so the lower prices are on its Black Friday page (protonvpn.com/black-friday).

Is It Worth Waiting for Black Friday?

For the 2-year plan, a little. If Proton repeats last year’s 75% off, you’d pay $59.76 instead of $71.76, a saving of $12 over two years. For the 1-year plan, no: today’s $47.88 is the same price Proton charged last Black Friday.

Whichever you choose, the discount covers the first term only. After that, VPN Plus renews at $83.88 a year.

What You Get With Proton VPN Plus

Proton VPN is run from Switzerland by the company behind Proton Mail. VPN Plus gives you:

• 10 devices at once.
• 20,000+ servers in 140+ countries, plus Secure Core, Proton’s double-hop feature.
• NetShield, which blocks ads, trackers and malware.
• Streaming, torrenting with port forwarding, and a kill switch.
• Open-source apps and a no-logs policy that Securitum has audited five years running, most recently in 2026.
• Payment by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Bitcoin or cash.
• A 30-day money-back guarantee: a full refund if you cancel within 30 days (Proton can’t refund cash or bank-transfer payments). After that, its terms say plans aren’t refundable.

Not sure yet? Proton Free covers 1 device and connects you to servers in 10 countries, picked at random, with no data limit and no ads. It’s an easy way to test Proton before Black Friday. Our Proton VPN free trial guide explains how it compares with the paid plans.

Proton VPN or NordVPN on Black Friday?

Proton is the cheaper of the two. Last Black Friday it cost $2.49 a month to NordVPN’s $2.99, and today it’s $2.99 to NordVPN’s $3.49. It renews for less too: $83.88 a year, against $139.08 for NordVPN Basic.

NordVPN still won more rounds in our Proton VPN vs NordVPN comparison: security extras, streaming, gaming and support. Proton won on speed and torrenting, and only Proton has a free plan. NordVPN’s 2-year deal adds 3 extra months, and new customers in the US and 14 other countries can try it free for 7 days.

So if streaming and extras matter most, NordVPN is worth the extra 50 cents a month. If price and privacy come first, Proton is the better buy. Our NordVPN Black Friday guide tracks NordVPN’s deal, which started on 16 October last year.

The Bottom Line

Proton VPN’s Black Friday deal arrived a month early last year, so watch for the 2026 one from mid-October. Last year’s price was $2.49 a month for two years; today Proton’s Black Friday page already sells the same plan for $2.99, the price of its 2024 deal. If you want more streaming power and extras for a little more, compare it with NordVPN’s deal before you buy.
