What Protocols Do Ivacy VPN Servers Offer?

Different servers in different locations offer different connection protocols.
Currently, Ivacy offers OpenVPN TCP and UDP protocols on all servers, IPSec and IKEv1 on most servers, and L2TP on a few.

TCP is slower due to higher latency but will guarantee all your data is sent in full, and UDP is faster but doesn’t guarantee delivery of all packets.

If you want better speed, switch from TCP, which Ivacy sets by default, to UDP.
L2TP is an old protocol that’s not subject to regular audits, which is why it’s less secure than others even if used with IPSec.
However, it’s one of the fastest protocols today, so you can choose it if you need to access something very quickly from Ivacy locations that support it.
IPSec and IKEv1 are stable protocols and ensure you stay connected when switching from Wi-Fi to data.
However, they aren’t compatible with all devices.
So, if you’re using devices other than Windows or iOS, consider one of the other Ivacy protocols.

Generally, if you’re looking for privacy and security with good speed, we recommend an Ivacy VPN server in a location closest to you.
