1. In Q4 of 2022, 45.7 million tablets were shipped worldwide.
That figure is higher than the number of tablet units shipped in Q3 of 2022 by 7.1 million. Overall, 163.2 million tablets were shipped in 2022.
2. In 2021, there were 1.28 billion tablet users worldwide.
Over 16% of the world’s population used tablets in 2021.
3. The tablet market fell by 16% in Q3 of 2022.
The drop in the market resulted from the post-pandemic behavioral shift of the buyers. However, the declines in sales of the biggest tablet market players, Apple and Samsung, were only 5% and 4%, respectively.
4. The global tablet market is expected to reach $147.38 billion by 2027.
In 2023, the tablet market will reach $94.96 billion at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.9%. Additionally, the figure of $147.38 billion is predicted due to the CAGR of 11.6%.

In October-December 2022, Apple’s tablet market share was 50.68-51.21% worldwide. In January 2023, it was 51.48%.

14. Dell Technologies had the largest share of the Chromebook tablet market in Q2 2022.
In the second quarter of 2022, Dell Technologies’ share of the Chromebook tablet market was 25.5%. Acer followed closely behind with 22.6%. Samsung had the smallest share of that market, with 6.2%.

15. Dell shipped the most Chromebook tablets in Q2 of 2022.
In Q2 of 2022, Dell Technologies shipped 1.5 million tablets with Chromebook OS.
Acer Group and Lenovo were in second and third place, with 1.3 and 1.2 million Chromebook tablets shipped in Q2 of 2022, respectively.
16. Acer shipped the most Chromebook tablets overall in 2022.
Throughout 2022, Acer shipped 4.2 million Chromebook tablets, with Dell Technologies following closely behind with 4.1 million. Lenovo and HP shipped 3.7 and 3.5 million tablets in 2022, respectively.
17. Huawei had the biggest share of the Chinese tablet market in Q2 of 2022.
The market share of Huawei tablets in China was 17.7% in Q2 of 2022, with Apple taking the top spot with 23.8%. Huawei managed to ship 1.03 million tablets in China in that period, and Apple almost 1.4 million.

18. The market share of tablets worldwide was 2.07% in January 2023.
That is a few percentage points higher than November and December 2022 (1.98% and 2%, respectively). The share of desktop devices in January 2023 was 39.41% worldwide, and mobile devices held the majority of the market at 58.52%.
19. In January 2023, the tablet market share in the USA was 2.9%.
The market share of desktop computers in that period was 49.85%.
The mobile segment had 47.26% of the market share.

In Q2 of 2022, Lenovo had a 30% market share in Latin America (LATAM).
430,000 Lenovo tablets were shipped there during that period.
Samsung and Apple were in second and third place, with 285,000 and 285,000 tablet units shipped to the market then, respectively.
26. In India, the market share of Acer tablets was 0.86% in March 2022.
That was the largest share Acer tablets had in 2022. By November, it dropped to 0.52% but reached 0.63% in December 2022.
Tablet Usage Statistics by Demographic
27. A third of Internet users aged 16-64 own a tablet.
33.7% of Internet users in that age bracket own a tablet device as of January 2023. That figure represents a 3.2% drop from the January 2022 figure.
28. The share of tablet usage among American 75-year-olds is 8%.
For the 65-74-year-olds, the percentage of tablet users in 2022 was 7%.
Only 2% of US-based 18-24-year-olds preferred tablets to access the Internet.
29. The share of Americans using tablets for shopping was 28% in 2022.
Most US adults (76%) shopped online on mobile in 2022. 69% used desktops, and 28% used tablets for shopping. People aged 50 and over were more likely to use a tablet to shop online than younger people – 32% of tablet shoppers were aged 50-64.
