Anonymous chat room sites like Omegle are a great way to alleviate boredom and make new friends while social distancing.
But for many reasons, the site is often blocked.
Whether it’s government censorship or public WiFi limiting bandwidth usage, you can use ExpressVPN to unblock Omegle right now.
Here’s how I do so regularly!
Is ExpressVPN a Worthy VPN?
In my experience, ExpressVPN is one of the best VPN providers out there.
This is because, after using and testing 150+ VPNs in the past 5+ years, I’ve rarely had issues with ExpressVPN.
Plus, the provider’s allure increases when you throw in their military-grade encryption, 3000+ servers, and streaming capabilities.
Of course, they aren’t perfect.
However, if you run into problems while using ExpressVPN to unblock Omegle, I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
I’ll share them with you at the end of this guide!
Unblock Omegle With ExpressVPN In 11 Easy Steps
Using ExpressVPN to unblock Omegle is simple – follow the steps below:
Step 1: Choose the 1 Month, 6 Months, or 12 Months plan to register an ExpressVPN account.
Step 2: Download and install the ExpressVPN app. Start with the device you’re using to sign up. You can always download the app on your other devices later!
Step 3: Copy the activation code when it appears on your screen – you’ll need it soon!
Step 4: Once the app is installed, log in using your ExpressVPN account details.
Paste the activation code when prompted.
Step 5: Click “continue” and take note of the red button with “Not Connected” above it.
Step 6: Beneath “Not Connected”, you’ll see a text bar with a “Smart Location.”
This is the fastest ExpressVPN server available based on your location. If your government doesn’t block Omegle, it’s best to select the “Smart Location.”
Step 7: If your country censors Omegle, the “Smart Location” might not work. Instead, tap on the three dots next to “Selected Location.”
Step 8: Listed now are the locations where ExpressVPN offers servers – choose one.
Step 9: Now tap the red power button. When it turns green, you’re connected!
Step 10: Open your browser and visit the Omegle website.
Step 11: Add your interests if you want or choose “College student chat,” “Text,” or “Video,” and Omegle will pick another user for you at random.
Please remember to stay safe when using Omegle.
The site doesn’t recommend giving away any personal information. Omegle also recommends stopping a chat immediately if someone is making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

Uh-oh! ExpressVPN isn’t Unblocking Omegle?
Sometimes, you’ll find Omegle is still blocked even though you’re using ExpressVPN.
Because Omegle is 100% anonymous, the only way the site can identify users is through your IP address. This means the only way for them to block users is by blocking their IP address.
This usually happens for one of three reasons:
- Too many users decided to stop chatting with you
- Someone reported you for inappropriate behavior
- You broke the site’s rules
If you only use Omegle with ExpressVPN, it might not be you who was banned.
ExpressVPN boasts thousands of users. So even though they have more than 3,000 servers, you’re still sharing them with thousands of other people.
In other words, if someone is banned while using the same server as you, you’ll also be banned by extension.
Luckily, this problem is easy to fix!
- Exit the site and clear your browser cookies in the settings tab.
- Close your browser.
- Disconnect from ExpressVPN by clicking on the big green button, then connect to a different server.
- Once the button turns green again, open your browser and visit Omegle. You should be able to start a chat now!
No, Omegle cannot block ExpressVPN.
However, they can block IP addresses – and someone else could’ve gotten one of ExpressVPN’s server IP addresses blocked. If this is the case, connect to a different server.
Yes and no.
Omegle is upfront about the fact predators are known to use their site, but they do their best to block people like that. ExpressVPN will help improve your anonymity, but you should still be careful when using Omegle.
Countries that block Omegle due to draconian censorship laws include China, Pakistan, Qatar, and the UAE. These countries also block regular VPNs, so you’ll need to use the special Stealth/Obfuscation servers from ExpressVPN.
If Omegle banned your IP address – or your country banned Omegle – ExpressVPN will get you back to chatting in no time!
Their fast servers ensure you can text or video chat with no problems. This makes ExpressVPN an excellent streaming VPN too!
