Yes, IPVanish works with Netflix.
This is great news for those wanting to stream the service over a safe, encrypted connection. Plus, you can use the VPN to unblock foreign Netflix libraries, expanding your viewing options for the ultimate “Netflix and Chill” occasions!
The speeds aren’t too bad, either, allowing HD streaming on all 2,000+ IPVanish servers.
But don’t just take my word for it. Read on to see how I researched and tested Netflix with IPVanish.
How to Setup IPVanish With Netflix?
One of my favorite things about IPVanish is its user-friendly interface, which makes it easy to set up with Netflix.
You’ll see what I mean in the steps below.
IPVanish supports multiple devices, but I’m using Windows for this demonstration.
You’ll find steps may differ slightly on other operating systems.
- Purchase an IPVanish subscription. Get an exclusive discount here.
- Download and install the IPVanish app for your chosen device.
- Launch your app and log in using your account credentials.
- Click on the locations icon and connect to one of the listed servers.
- Create a Netflix account or open Netflix if you’ve already subscribed.
- Find the title you want to stream and click “Play.”
Now you can watch your favorite Netflix movies, series, and documentaries using an unlimited bandwidth connection under the radar of your ISP!
What Are the Best IPVanish Servers for Streaming Netflix?
Determining the best server for streaming Netflix depends on your location, with the nearest IPVanish servers often rendering the smoothest connections.
Luckily, IPVanish helps determine the fastest VPN server.
Simply click on the Fastest Available connect button found under the Locations tab on your IPVanish app.
If you’re using IPVanish to bypass geo-restrictions and access foreign Netflix libraries, choose a server in the location with which you want to be identified.
So, for example, connect to IPVanish’s US servers to stream US-exclusive Netflix content like Ink Master and 30 Rock.
Can I Use IPVanish to Unblock Netflix Libraries?
I’m happy to report that you can use IPVanish to unblock Netflix libraries!
Living in South Africa, I’m limited to my local Netflix viewing options.
But with IPVanish, I can access Netflix content anywhere!
I’ll put my money where my mouth is and share my test results.
Test #1: Unblocking US Netflix From South Africa
The US always has the best viewing options, in my opinion.
So, my first feat was to bypass the country’s geo-restrictions – which I successfully did by connecting to an IPVanish US server in Los Angeles!
Before connecting to the VPN server, I’d get this error screen:
However, I could easily sign up for a foreign account after connecting to the LA server.
Here, I’m streaming the Netflix US exclusive title “NCIS.”
Test #2: Unblocking UK Netflix From South Africa
The UK was my next challenge!
I was eager to binge Downton Abbey, but it’s not available on SA Netflix:
The good news is that a quick connection to a UK server in London changed this!
More proof of IPVanish working with Netflix!
Other Netflix Regions That IPVanish Can Unblock
Although the US has the most extensive Netflix library, other countries have unique viewing streaming options you might not want to miss out on.
According to IPVanish customer support, you can access the following Netflix regional libraries:
- Netflix Australia
- Netflix Netherlands
- Netflix Japan (they have the best anime!)
Remember to connect to a server in the region you’re trying to access Netflix!
Is IPVanish Fast Enough for Netflix?
As an IPVanish and Netflix veteran, the answer is “Yes!”
I know this because I’m watching Netflix on a slow, shared connection, and I can still stream in HD!
I ran a few Ookla speed tests to demonstrate my experience.
First, I tested my base speed.
As I said, my connection is slow, and I managed a download speed of 10.92 Mbps.
For the next set of tests, I connected to IPVanish servers set to the WireGuard protocol, the fastest protocol the VPN offers.
The first server I connected to was a local South African one:
I managed a download speed of 9.68 Mbps, which rendered a 12% average speed drop. Not bad, eh?
Then, I connected to the fastest available server, expecting an even better VPN download speed.
Surprisingly, the download speed was lower than my local VPN server connection!
Still, fast enough for unbuffered streaming! The speed result was 6.48 Mbps, a 51% speed loss compared to my base speed.
Since I’ll be using the Netflix US streaming service the most, it was important to see where I stood in this regard.
So, I connected to my favorite LA server and ran the same test.
Once again, this server performed better than the fastest available server.
My download speed was 7.45 Mbps, making the speed drop less significant at 37%.
Let’s make sense of these results in the next section.
IPVanish and Netflix Speed Comparison Table
IPVanish may not be the fastest VPN, but my results show that it’s fast enough to work with Netflix.
Here’s the gist of it:
|Server||Download Speed||Average Speed Loss|
|None (base connection)||10.92 Mbps||NA|
|South Africa (my nearest server)||9.68 Mbps||12%|
|Fastest available server||6.48 Mbps||51%|
|US Los Angeles server||7.45 Mbps||37%|
Use this reliable VPN to stream Netflix without frustration!
How to Use IPVanish’s Split Tunneling to View Netflix?
You can easily use split tunneling on IPVanish’s Android and FireOS device apps (nothing for desktops or iOS, I’m afraid) to watch Netflix using your faster base connection while bypassing the VPN services for your other internet apps.
That way, you only encrypt the Netflix app and can use your other online services on your local connection, or vice versa.
To use IPVanish’s split tunneling, you must:
- Purchase an IPVanish subscription.
- Download and install the Android or FireOS app from the correct store.
- Launch the app.
- Ensure you’re disconnected from IPVanish’s servers and tap “Settings.”
- Scroll down and tap “Split Tunneling.”
- Use the filter to select how you want your Netflix app to work with IPVanish. Choose between “Recommended,” “User Apps,” and “System Apps” options.
The first thing to do if IPVanish isn’t working with Netflix is to ensure your internet connection is stable. A slow or interrupted network will hinder the apps’ ability to perform.
Restarting your device, connecting to a different server, clearing cookies, and trying via incognito mode are also troubleshooting methods that may help.
If all fails, contact customer service via IPVanish’s Live Chat for tailored VPN services solutions.
It’s completely legal to use IPVanish with Netflix.
Both apps are safe to use, and you won’t be penalized for purchasing them.
Plus, the VPN allows you to legally stream under the radar of your ISP, which means fewer chances of bandwidth throttling!
Knowing no bounds, I conclude that IPVanish servers work with Netflix!
From fast speeds to excellent unblocking, you can watch Netflix from anywhere!
Plus, you benefit from unlimited simultaneous device connections, an automatic kill switch for extra streaming safety, and an extensive server network.
