How to Set Up and Use NordVPN in Egypt? (2026)

Setting up NordVPN in Egypt is as simple as downloading and installing the VPN app on your device.

You must then sign in and connect to a server location to unblock VOIP, streaming sites, and other geo-restricted content in Egypt.

Of course, there are a few extra steps in between, but don’t worry – I’ll walk you through the entire setup process.

Let’s get started.

Unblock VOIP and Streaming Sites in Egypt Using NordVPN

NordVPN works incredibly well in Egypt, and you can use it on all primary devices, including smartphones, computers, gaming consoles, and Smart TVs.

Let’s take a look at each method:

How to Set Up and Use the NordVPN App in Egypt?

This is the easiest way to set up and use NordVPN in Egypt.

You can download the NordVPN app on the official website, the Google Play Store (Android), or the Apple App Store (iOS and macOS).

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to go about it:

1. Get a NordVPN subscription.

2. Download and install the NordVPN app on your device.

3. Launch the app and sign in with NordVPN account credentials.

4. Click the gear icon on the bottom left corner to open the NordVPN VPN app Settings.

5. Select Kill Switch and turn it on to prevent IP and DNS leaks.

6. Find your preferred NordVPN server location or server type and click to connect.

7. You’ll get a notification after successfully connecting to the NordVPN server. Go to IPLeak.net to check for leaks and confirm the connection is safe.

8. Securely browse the web or unblock any content from Egypt.

Set Up and Use NordVPN in Egypt via SmartDNS

In addition to its VPN service, NordVPN offers a Smart DNS service for unblocking content on smart TVs and gaming consoles.

Here are the steps for setting up and using the NordVPN SmartDNS:

1. Sign up for NordVPN.
2. Log in to your NordVPN account dashboard using a device connected to the same WiFi network as your smart TV or gaming console.

3. Click the NordVPN tab near the top-left corner.

4. Locate SmartDNS under “Additional features” and click “Enable.”

5. You’ll be asked to confirm you want to enable SmartDNS. Click “Activate SmartDNS.”

6. You’ve now enabled NordVPN SmartDNS on your WiFi network.

7. Enter your NordVPN DNS addresses in your device’s DNS settings to set up Smart DNS.

8. Save the new DNS setting and enjoy access to Netflix US, Hulu, and Max on your smart TV in Egypt.

Besides the VPN app and Smart DNS, you can also set up and use NordVPN via a router. While this method is a bit more complicated, it’s the only reliable option for Roku users.

Here’s our guide on how to do so.

Why NordVPN Is a Good VPN for Egypt?

NordVPN is an excellent VPN for Egypt that you can use to browse safely, bypass geo-restrictions, and override ISP throttling for faster downloads and HD streaming.

Here are some of the key reasons why NordVPN is a good choice in Egypt:

Robust Security and Privacy Features

Worried about your ISP or the government keeping tabs on your online activities? NordVPN encrypts your internet traffic with impenetrable AES 256-bit encryption to block prying eyes.

This also allows you to access chat and VOIP services that the Egyptian government blocks.

NordVPN also comes with DNS/IPv6 leak protection and an internet kill switch to keep you safe if the connection drops.

The provider also maintains a no-logs policy, ensuring your data is protected regardless of the server location you’re connected to.

Large Server Network

NordVPN provides access to 7,000+ servers in 150 countries for bypassing censorship and geo-restrictions.

In my tests, the VPN unblocked all the top streaming services, from Netflix US to Netflix UK, Max, and BBC iPlayer.

Fast Connection Speeds

Another impressive thing about NordVPN is its server speeds.

It only impacted my connection by a mere 13%, allowing me to watch Planet Earth II on BBC iPlayer in 4K without interruptions.

Thanks to its super-fast download speeds, I also enjoyed using NordVPN with qBittorrent.

Supports Smart DNS

As mentioned earlier, NordVPN offers a smart DNS service that you can use to unblock content on Smart TVs at no extra cost.

But keep in mind that NordVPN Smart DNS only offers US DNS addresses and, as such, can only be used with US streaming services.

If you want a library from outside the US on your TV, the router setup mentioned above is the more flexible route, since it lets you pick any NordVPN server location.

Dedicated IP Addresses

NordVPN allows you to get your n own unique VPN IP address for secure remote access, online payments, and better reliability when unblocking streaming sites.

Also, with a NordVPN dedicated IP, you can avoid CAPTCHAs and other annoying interruptions when browsing.

NordVPN Threat Protection

On top of its VPN encryption, NordVPN also offers protection from ads, trackers, and malware.

Threat Protection –previously known as CyberSec– scans your downloads to identify and block malware. It also blocks pre-identified phishing domains and other malicious links that risk your safety.

Easy to Set and Use

As seen in the setup guides above, NordVPN is user-friendly.

It offers native apps for all primary devices and an easy-to-use Smart DNS service for non-compatible devices.

Plus, the provider has 24/7 customer support that you can contact via Live Chat should you encounter any challenges when setting up or using the VPN.

Best NordVPN Alternatives for Egypt

After testing over 15 of the top VPNs in Egypt, I found NordVPN to be the best service for streaming foreign content and P2P file transfers.

NordVPN now offers a virtual Egypt location (Cairo), so you can use it to get an Egyptian IP, but the servers behind it are hosted outside the country, and its local speeds are slightly slower than, for instance, CyberGhost, which has multiple servers in Cairo.

If NordVPN doesn’t meet your specific needs, here are some alternatives.

Surfshark

Surfshark offers a server location in Egypt that allows you to obtain an Egyptian IP address to access your local bank accounts and localized content on the web and social media from anywhere in the world.

On top of that, Surfshark offers 4,500+ servers in 100 countries, fewer than NordVPN’s 7,000+ in 150, but still enough to unblock content in most places you’ll need.

Surfshark ended its SmartDNS service in February 2026, so to get it on a smart TV, you’ll use its native app on Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, or Apple TV (tvOS 17 or later). Other TVs need Surfshark on your router or a Windows hotspot running the OpenVPN protocol.

And as if that’s not enough, Surfshark is more affordable and allows you to connect unlimited devices simultaneously.

CyberGhost

CyberGhost offers an incredible 40 servers in Egypt, allowing you to obtain a local IP address and faster speeds within the country.

It’s a user-friendly NordVPN alternative for streaming that offers easy-to-find dedicated servers for most major streaming services –including regional versions of Netflix, DAZN, and Disney+.

Although NordVPN overseas servers are faster, CyberGhost performs exceptionally well.

It enabled me to stream Castle Rock on Hulu in HD.

You can use CyberGhost on the same range of devices as NordVPN, and the provider supports 7 simultaneous connections, three fewer than NordVPN.

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is faster than NordVPN and a good alternative for streaming and torrenting.

It also offers an Egyptian server location, but its local server is less reliable than Surfshark’s and CyberGhost’s. It returned a Dutch IP address in some of my IP location tests, which is far from ideal when accessing local content.

But if you want to unblock foreign sites and content, there’s hardly a better VPN than ExpressVPN.

I found it faster than NordVPN during my tests, and it unblocked every streaming site I threw at it.

ExpressVPN starts at about the same price as NordVPN, and its Basic plan also allows 10 simultaneous connections, the same as NordVPN; you need its pricier plans for 12 or 14.

Either way, you can get it at cheaper prices with our exclusive sign-up offer.
