5 Best VPNs for GameLoop – Access Region-Locked Games & a Stable Connection

We are reader supported and may earn a commission when you buy through links on our site. Learn more.

GameLoop is my preferred Android emulator, as it’s free and offers an intuitive layout that lets me blast noobs in Call of Duty Mobile on a bigger screen (with a controller).

Unfortunately, when I moved to Europe, my first ISP was unreliable.

My ping jumped all over the place, I experienced never-ending lag, and my overall connection was unstable.

This made gaming on GameLoop a nightmare.

Luckily, I was already using a VPN at the time, so I knew the solution was to test the best in the industry until a winner emerged.

As a result of those tests, I was left with a phenomenal VPN service for GameLoop: NordVPN.

Not only did NordVPN fix my connection issues, but it also helped me access region-locked games on GameLoop!

And that’s in addition to its blazing-fast speeds, DDoS protection, and split tunneling feature.

But I also discovered four alternatives that work flawlessly with GameLoop, such as Surfshark and ExpressVPN.

Keep reading for the full details!

NordVPN

Best Choice

NordVPN rises above the rest as the best VPN for GameLoop, thanks to its fast speeds, ability to unblock region-locked content, and a premium suite of security features. This includes the essential DDoS protection, along with other useful features like obfuscation and a double VPN – both of which make it easy to avoid getting blacklisted on your GameLoop apps if using a VPN is against their ToS (like CoD Mobile).

Detailed List of the 5 Best VPNs for GameLoop

In the next sections, you’ll find comprehensive discussions on each VPN and the features that make them ideal for GameLoop.

So sit back, fire up the Android emulator, and get ready to game!

1. NordVPN – Most Reliable VPN for GameLoop + Premium Security

nordvpn for gaming

The thing about GameLoop is that, while using a VPN isn’t against its ToS, it is against the ToS of many of the games and apps you might download and play.

This is where NordVPN comes in – and why it scores first on my list.

Thanks to the VPN app’s obfuscation and double VPN features, you can enjoy your favorite games without being flagged for using a VPN!

This is because both features help hide your VPN use, so no one but you knows you’re using a VPN.

Plus, while most of the VPNs on my list offer some form of obfuscation (except PIA), NordVPN and Surfshark are the only two that offer a double VPN feature.

This makes NordVPN unique, especially as, in my experience, it’s the best on this list for playing games with VPN bans.

And that’s only the beginning.

While not the fastest on my list, NordVPN scored second in my speed tests (with ExpressVPN placing first).

This was a pleasant surprise for me, as NordVPN usually places behind Surfshark as well (albeit just barely).

But not this time!

Take a look:

Speed Without NordVPN:

Speed With NordVPN:

So, in addition to premium security features, you’ll also get blazing-fast speeds, ensuring a stable connection with low ping and minimal to no lag.

Oh! Speaking of premium security features, you’ll also appreciate the provider’s DDoS protection.

DDoS protection is essential for gamers, as it protects you from angry players who want to ruin your night by cutting your internet via a DDoS attack.

In fact, the last time I won a CODMobile game on GameLoop, a guy on voice chat yelled, “$#&@ you, cheater! I have your IP!”

(Paraphrased – there were more expletives.)

call of duty in-game tutorial

I wasn’t cheating (he probably thought I was using a keyboard and mouse), but the threat made my heart pound.

Luckily, NordVPN’s DDoS protection stepped up to the plate, and I never experienced any issues.

(Didn’t want to set up my main CODMobile account for screenshots, so the one above is a Guest account meant to test the VPNs in this list with GameLoop.)

Beyond that, NordVPN also promises your GameLoop experience will be one without restrictions, thanks to its thorough ability to unblock region-locked games.

So, for example, if you’re in a country that bans PUBG (like China, Pakistan, or India), NordVPN will help you unblock and download it on GameLoop!

pubg mobile on gameloop

As a bonus, the VPN provider also offers two additional features for GameLoop users.

The first is split tunneling, which allows you to choose which apps are routed through NordVPN.

This means if you only want the game you’re playing to be affected by the VPN (and not the rest of GameLoop), split tunneling will help you do so.

The second feature is actually a paid add-on: a Dedicated IP.

At an additional $70/year, NordVPN will give you an IP that only you can use.

This will further help you avoid getting banned on games and apps where using a VPN is against ToS.

Not a lot of VPNs offer Dedicated IP options, either.

The only other VPNs on my list to offer the option are PIA and CyberGhost, though Surfshark does have built-in (shared) static IP server options at no additional cost.

Now for the downside.

If you’re stuck using NordVPN’s obfuscation or double VPN feature to circumvent an app’s ToS, expect some speed loss.

It’s not enough to ruin your GameLoop experience, but it might be enough to push NordVPN behind Surfshark in terms of speed – and possibly even PIA.

But if you decide to stick to my top recommendation, you’ll at least enjoy affordable plans:

And for EVEN BIGGER savings, you can click here! 🙂

2. Surfshark – Lightweight Obfuscation & Static IP Servers

surfshark vpn for gaming

Surfshark comes second on my list, thanks to its myriad of features for GameLoop users – including a lightweight obfuscation feature that ensures any games and apps with VPN restrictions won’t know you’re using a VPN!

This feature is called Camouflage Mode, and, unlike NordVPN, you won’t experience much speed loss while using it.

This puts Surfshark’s obfuscation feature miles ahead of my top recommendation and all the others on my list.

Plus, the provider also offers a double VPN (MultiHop)!

surfshark vpn mulithop connection

Another area where Surfshark pulls ahead of its competition – including PIA and CyberGhost – is its speeds.

And while the provider falls behind NordVPN and ExpressVPN, it’s by a very small margin.

Here are my speed results:

Speed Without Surfshark:

Speed With Surfshark:

Either way, expect crazy-fast speeds when gaming on GameLoop with Surfshark (even when using Camouflage Mode), along with a stable connection, low ping, and minimal lag!

Moving on, yet another feature that makes Surfshark unique is its Static IP server options.

No other VPN on my list offers a free static IP option.

This means you can use the same IP to play games on GameLoop, helping prevent your account from being flagged for VPN use due to switching servers too many times.

surfshark static ip servers

But there is a difference between Surfshark’s Static IP servers and Dedicated IP add-ons (like NordVPN’s).

Whereas Dedicated IPs are for one person, Surfshark’s Static IP servers are shared by the rest of its users.

In other words, Dedicated IPs are more reliable for avoiding VPN-related bans.

Still, Static IP servers are a nice option to have!

And, luckily, there’s more good news.

Surfshark is also an amazing VPN for helping you access region-locked games.

So, if you want to play CODMobile on GameLoop but you’re in a country where it’s banned, Surfshark will help you download and play the game without any issues!

playing call of duty mobile through gameloop with surfshark vpn

Additionally, Surfshark provides gamers with DDoS protection and split tunneling (Whitelister), ensuring your gaming experience is safe from DDoS attacks and your VPN targets only the GameLoop apps you want it to.

And, best of all, Surfshark offers the most affordable long-term plans on my list:

3. ExpressVPN – Fastest VPN for GameLoop & Best for Unblocking Content

expressvpn for gaming

Next on my list of the most reliable VPNs for GameLoop is ExpressVPN – a provider that boasts two primary strengths: speed and unblocking content.

First, ExpressVPN scored the fastest speeds during my tests, beating every other VPN on my list.

And this isn’t an anomaly.

ExpressVPN almost always places first in my speed tests.

To put it in perspective, here’s a table comparing the speeds of all the VPNs in my list:

VPN Provider Speed Without VPN Speed With VPN Speed Loss Difference
ExpressVPN 234.67 Mbps 230.28 Mbps -4.39 Mbps
NordVPN 230.72 Mbps 222.17 Mbps -8.55 Mbps
Surfshark 228.32 Mbps 218.34 Mbps -9.98 Mbps
PIA 219.36 Mbps 208.54 Mbps -10.82 Mbps
CyberGhost 228.74 Mbps 207.44 Mbps -21.30 Mbps

Of course, this means you won’t experience any bouncing ping or heavy lag!

It also means your overall connection will remain stable and fast, no matter what game you’re playing.

Likewise, ExpressVPN is also spectacular at unblocking content, whether games and apps or streaming services and websites.

This means you can access almost any mobile game you can think of from anywhere, including PUBG!

In fact, you’re only limited to what GameLoop can’t provide (such as Fortnite Mobile).

playing pubg mobile with expressvpn

Better yet, ExpressVPN also offers obfuscation.

But, unlike Surfshark and NordVPN, whose obfuscation features can only be used with OpenVPN, ExpressVPN’s obfuscation can be used with any protocol!

This is thanks to the provider’s TrustedServer technology, which obfuscates all of its 3000+ RAM-only servers.

So, if you’re dying to play a game on GameLoop that bans the use of VPNs, ExpressVPN might help you avoid detection!

Still, I say “might” because I had trouble playing CODMobile with ExpressVPN – I couldn’t find a match no matter how long I waited.

I’m not sure if this was due to something other than ExpressVPN, but when I disconnected and switched to Surfshark (using Camouflage Mode via OpenVPN), I was able to find a match almost immediately.

But now, back to the good news!

Like the other VPNs on my list, ExpressVPN offers DDoS protection and split tunneling.

This means that A) you’re safe from angry gamers trying to launch DDoS attacks on you in retaliation to losing a match (or, let’s be honest, your back and forth shit-talking) and B) you can route your VPN traffic through the app you’re using while enjoying your normal connection on the rest of GameLoop.

Finally, one more caveat – ExpressVPN is the priciest on my list.

Take a look:

Luckily, this substantial discount will help you save some bucks!

Pros

Cons

4. Private Internet Access – VPN for GameLoop With Port Forwarding

private internet access vpn for gaming

In fourth place on my list is Private Internet Access (PIA), with a special feature not offered by any other VPN on my list (at least at its full capacity): port forwarding.

ExpressVPN also offers this feature, but it’s limited and only available with its router setup.

PIA, on the other hand, offers port forwarding for all of its setups, including Android.

private internet access vpn port forwarding

For GameLoop users, this means the feature is easy to implement, ensuring a high-quality gaming experience with a stable connection.

Another thing ensuring your connection remains stable is PIA’s fast speeds.

Although the provider fell behind ExpressVPN and NordVPN, it beat CyberGhost by a landslide and almost tied with Surfshark.

This means, regardless of its score, your speeds will always be super-fast.

Here are my speed test results:

Speed Without PIA:

speed test result without private internet access vpn

Speed With PIA:

speed test result with private internet access vpn

Of course, PIA is also great at unlocking region-locked apps in GameLoop, meaning you can enjoy your favorite games (like PUBG) from almost anywhere in the world!

playing pubg mobile with private internet access vpn

Meanwhile, the VPN provider also offers DDoS protection, so you can brag about your wins in PUBG without the threat of a DDoS attack looming over you.

Finally, PIA has a split tunneling feature, allowing you to pick and choose which apps are covered by your VPN.

In other words, if you only want one app on GameLoop to use PIA, you can use split-tunneling to make a rule to do so.

That said, some users on Reddit report that PIA’s split tunneling feature is unreliable.

private internet access vpn split tunneling on reddit forum

There’s also another downside to PIA.

While every other VPN on my list offers some form of obfuscation, PIA doesn’t.

This means you’re more likely to get banned on apps that prohibit the use of a VPN.

And while the provider promised three years ago on Reddit that the feature was in the works, the Reddit account has since been deleted with no recent updates.

On the bright side, PIA offers a Dedicated IP option ($5/month) and the cheapest monthly plan on my list:

5. CyberGhost – Beginner-Friendly VPN With Dedicated Gaming Servers

cyberghost for gaming

Last on my list of the best VPNs for GameLoop is CyberGhost – yet another provider with a special feature that no other VPN on my list can claim: dedicated gaming servers.

This means you can enjoy fast speeds, a stable connection, low ping, and minimal lag when gaming on GameLoop with CyberGhost, which is a good thing, as the provider placed last on my list for speeds.

Take a look:

Speed Without CyberGhost:

speed test result without cyberghost vpn

Speed With CyberGhost:

speed test result with cyberghost vpn

This is a huge disappointment, especially as CyberGhost’s dedicated gaming servers don’t always work.

And, sometimes, if they do, the speeds are terrible.

If that weren’t the case, the provider would’ve placed much higher on my list!

But when you get the servers working and/or find one of the better ones, you’ll appreciate the speed boost compared to the normal servers.

Here’s a brief example of the difference:

Speed Without CyberGhost Normal CyberGhost Server CyberGhost Gaming Server
228.74 Mbps 194.12 Mbps 207.44 Mbps

Moving on, CyberGhost also offers obfuscation via its NoSpy servers.

These effectively prevent games from seeing your VPN use, though they cost extra and are only available with long-term plans.

CyberGhost NoSPY Pricing
CyberGhost Pricing With & Without NoSPY

This is another disappointment, considering NordVPN, Surfshark, and ExpressVPN offer obfuscation in their standard packages.

Fortunately, there’s more good news to make up for the bad.

First, CyberGhost is great at unlocking region-locked games like PUBG and Clash of Kings!

So, if you want to use GameLoop to download blocked Android apps, you’re in luck!

playing pubg mobile with cyberghost vpn

Next, CyberGhost also offers DDoS protection and a split tunneling feature – both of which work perfectly on Android.

In fact, split tunneling is only available on the provider’s Android app, meaning GameLoop users are especially lucky!

cyberghost split tunneling

Finally, CyberGhost also offers Dedicated IPs as an add-on at $5/month!

In addition to helping you circumvent VPN bans on apps and games, this might also help with CyberGhost’s speeds (as no one would be sharing your server).

cyberghost dedicated ip

And while its monthly price is quite expensive, CyberGhost does have affordable long-term plans:

Buying Guide: The Best VPNs for GameLoop

To help you out with purchasing the best VPN for GameLoop, here’s a thorough buying guide detailing what to look for (and what not to look for)!

This includes a features checklist and a section on free VPNs for GameLoop.

Don’t Want a VPN on My List? Reference This Checklist Before Purchasing!

If you’re heart-set on finding your own VPN for GameLoop, don’t jump in immediately!

Have this checklist handy and reference it while shopping:

Fast Speeds

Fast speeds are essential.

The faster your speeds are while using a VPN with GameLoop, the more stable your connection will be.

This means the games you play won’t be plagued by lag or a skyrocketing ping.

And while every VPN will slow your connection somewhat (unless your ISP is throttling your bandwidth), the best VPNs will have a speed drop so low that it’s unnoticeable without a speed test.

Having a large server network also helps with this.

Typically, any VPN with 3,000+ servers is less likely to suffer from network congestion (and, thus, slower speeds).

Unblocks Region-Locked Content

Depending on your location, some games and apps might be banned or blocked by your government or ISP.

To get around these blocks, you need a VPN capable of bypassing region locks.

For example, if PUBG is banned in your country, a reliable VPN will let you connect to a server in a country where it’s not banned, so you can download and play it on GameLoop regardless of your real location.

DDoS Protection

Another essential feature for a VPN for GameLoop is DDoS protection.

DDoS protection helps protect you from DDoS attacks – a popular retaliation tactic for angry gamers that slows your internet or cuts it completely.

By using a VPN server with DDoS protection instead of your real IP, you can circumvent most DDoS attacks.

And if you can’t, you can easily switch to a new server instead of resetting your router.

Obfuscation

Typically, obfuscation isn’t a feature I recommend for gaming, but when it comes to GameLoop and mobile apps, it might help you avoid VPN-related bans when using apps that prohibit VPN use.

This is because obfuscation hides your VPN use altogether, meaning the only one who knows you’re using a VPN is…you.

APK Available

GameLoop is an Android emulator.

Therefore, to use a VPN on GameLoop, the VPN needs to offer an APK (Android Package).

For those who don’t know, an APK is the file format used by Android to distribute and install apps.

So, if you’re unable to download an app from the Google Play Store (or it’s unavailable), an APK will allow you to manually install the app yourself

Unfortunately, GameLoop doesn’t let you download VPN apps from the Google Play Store, thus making APKs a required feature.

Pricing

Finally, before purchasing a VPN subscription, make sure you compare the different VPNs, their features, and their pricing fees.

Some VPNs are overly priced for their limited features, while others provide a phenomenal service for affordable fees.

Do thorough research and comparisons before committing.

BONUS: Extra Features

Other features to consider are split tunneling, Dedicated IP add-ons, and any dedicated gaming features, like CyberGhost’s gaming servers.

Additionally, the best VPNs for GameLoop will offer 256-bit AES encryption and strict no-logs policies.

Will a Free VPN Work With GameLoop?

Some free VPNs might work with GameLoop, but I don’t recommend using most of them.

Free VPNs are sneaky – they look promising, but once you start using them, the disadvantages become apparent, such as limited features and bandwidth caps.

If you’re lucky, at least.

If you’re unlucky, you’ll experience a lot worse than limited features and bandwidth caps.

Think hidden malware and your data being sold to third parties.

All in all, most free VPNs aren’t worth using with GameLoop.

But, if you’re super desperate for a VPN and you don’t want to pay for one, I recommend ProtonVPN (a freemium VPN).

ProtonVPN Annual Prices in USD
ProtonVPN Plans and Annual Pricing (USD)

You’ll get 23 servers in 3 countries, medium speeds, and no bandwidth caps – which is a lot more than almost any other free VPN will offer.

That said, you can’t count on ProtonVPN’s free version to unblock games or stabilize your connection while gaming on GameLoop.

So, if/when you can afford it, I recommend switching to a premium VPN.

Don’t forget to check out my exclusive, major discount on my top VPN recommendation for GameLoop, NordVPN!

How to Install a VPN on GameLoop? Just Follow These Steps!

Don’t let the term “APK” scare you – installing a VPN on GameLoop is easier than it sounds!

Just follow these steps:

  1. Choose one of my recommended VPNs (or a VPN you found after thorough research) and purchase a subscription.
  1. Locate the VPN’s APK file and download it to your PC (the device you’re using GameLoop on).

FAQ

How to Use a VPN in GameLoop?

Despite requiring an APK installation, using a VPN in GameLoop is easy.

If you followed the steps listed above, your VPN should act as any GameLoop app.

Simply click the “Me” tab, hover over your VPN icon, select “Start Game,” and wait for the new GameLoop window to appear.

Once it does, you’ll be prompted to log in.

After doing so, the VPN app can be used as if it were directly on your Android device – meaning you can choose your preferred protocol and connect to a server!

Is GameLoop Banned in India?

No, at the time of writing (September 2021), GameLoop is not banned in India.

However, GameLoop is owned by the Chinese online retail company Tencent Games, and as a result of India banning Chinese apps, many of the online retailer’s apps have already been banned, such as WeChat, QQ, Kikoo, Voo, and SHAREit.

This means there’s a small chance GameLoop could be banned in India in the future.

Can I Get in Trouble for Using a VPN With GameLoop?

No, you won’t get in trouble for using a VPN with GameLoop, as the Android emulator doesn’t prohibit VPN use.

However, if you use your VPN to play a game on GameLoop that prohibits the use of VPNs, such as CODMobile, there’s a chance your account gets banned as a result of violating the game’s ToS.

Is GameLoop Safe to Use?

GameLoop is an official Android emulator owned by a reputable company, making it 100% safe to use.

You won’t experience any viruses, malware, adware, or spyware, nor will your passwords or data be stolen (like some rumors suggest).

That said, you should always use different passwords for all of your accounts and a reliable password manager.

My top VPN for GameLoop, NordVPN, offers a great password manager called NordPass.

Can I Use a VPN to Play PUBG on GameLoop?

Yes, you can use a VPN to play PUBG on GameLoop, even if the game is banned in your country.

Simply connect to a VPN server in a country where PUBG isn’t banned and download the app on GameLoop.

This can be done for any Android game or app, regardless of your location.

Is GameLoop Illegal?

No, GameLoop is not illegal.

In fact, at the time of writing, GameLoop isn’t illegal (banned) in any country, making it legal to use worldwide.

Can I Play PUBG on GameLoop Without a VPN?

Technically, yes, you can use your VPN to download PUBG on GameLoop and then disconnect it, restart GameLoop, and play PUBG without a VPN.

However, keep in mind this might skyrocket your ping and/or cause lag.

Can I Download an Old Version of GameLoop?

Yes, you can download an older version of GameLoop by navigating to Uptodown, searching GameLoop,” clicking the icon, and selectingOlder versions.”

Older versions go back as far as February 19th, 2018, and are completely safe to download.

Using an older version of GameLoop can even help with any temporary issues caused by new updates.

Conclusion

I love using GameLoop to play Android games with minimal lag and low ping.

And my favorite VPN for GameLoop is easily NordVPN.

This is thanks to its fast speeds, ability to unblock region-locked games, and obfuscated servers that help circumvent VPN-related bans on games that prohibit VPN use.

Of course, DDoS protection, split tunneling, and a Dedicated IP add-on are great bonuses!
