You can’t install CyberGhost directly on your Apple TV, but you can still use the VPN through SmartDNS, AirPlay, an encrypted hotspot connection, or a CyberGhost-compatible VPN.
In this article, I’ll show you how these methods work and how to set them up.
I’ll also provide a detailed step-by-step guide on changing your CyberGhost location on your Apple TV.

How to Use CyberGhost on Apple TV With SmartDNS?
CyberGhost SmartDNS lets you tweak the DNS settings on your Apple TV, so you can access geo-blocked content. However, this method doesn’t encrypt your connection and only works on newer Apple TV 4 and 3 models.
Here’s how to set it up:
- Subscribe to a CyberGhost plan.
- Open the official CyberGhost website and sign in. Go to My Account.
- Tap on Smart DNS on the left panel.
- This will open a page with a list of DNS servers for different devices. Tap on Apple TV.
- This will show you a list of different DNS servers for specific streaming services. These are the DNS addresses you will input on your Apple TV. So don’t close that page.
- Switch to your Apple TV, go to Settings, then choose General and Network.
- Select the same Wi-Fi connection used by the VPN and Apple TV.
- Scroll down and tap Configure DNS.
- Choose Manual.
- Choose a DNS address from CyberGhost’s list depending on what you want to stream, enter it, and hit Done.
- Restart your Apple TV. You can now stream geo-restricted content!
How to Use CyberGhost for Apple TV With AirPlay Mirror Casting?
Another method of streaming geo-blocked content on Apple TV is through mirror casting with AirPlay. However, this method won’t work for Netflix since the streaming service blocks AirPlay.
Here are the steps:
- Subscribe to CyberGhost.
- Install the app on any portable Apple device compatible with CyberGhost apps. In my case, I used MacBook.
- Connect to a server depending on what you want to stream and launch the streaming platform.
- On your Mac, select “Screen Mirroring” from the toggle icon in your taskbar.
- Select your Apple TV, and voila! Everything that plays on your MacBook will be cast on the TV screen.
How to Use CyberGhost for Apple TV via Hotspot Connection?
Since Apple TVs are internet enabled, you can create a WiFi hotspot from a CyberGhost-compatible device and connect to it on your Apple TV.
I’ll use my Android smartphone in the example below.
- Subscribe to CyberGhost VPN.
- Launch the VPN on your device and connect to a server that unblocks your desired content.
- Create a hotspot and connect your Apple TV to the newly created Wi-Fi. You can now stream any content.
Note that this method will result in slow speeds because you’ll pass an encrypted connection through an intermediary device not built to provide internet.
Use CyberGhost With Apple TV via Compatible Router
Using a CyberGhost-compatible router is the easiest method for streaming geo-blocked content on Apple TV. Once set up, connect your Apple TV to the router to access geo-blocked streaming platforms.
Examples of routers compatible with CyberGhost include:
- CyberGhost Netgear R6400V2 AC1750 DD-WRT FlashRouter
- CyberGhost Linksys WRT3200ACM AC3200 DD-WRT FlashRouter
- CyberGhost Asus RT-AC5300 AC5300 DD-WRT FlashRouter
How to Change CyberGhost Location on Apple TV?
Changing the CyberGhost location on Apple TV depends on how you connect CyberGhost to your Apple TV.
For AirPlay and hotspot methods, you can change the location directly from the devices you’re using for mirror casting or creating a WiFi hotspot.
For SmartDNS, simply choose another DNS server from the eight provided by CyberGhost and enter them into your Apple TV’s DNS settings.
For CyberGhost-compatible routers, you can change the location from within the settings provided on the VPN firmware.
Can You Use CyberGhost Streaming Servers on Apple TV?
You can use CyberGhost streaming servers on Apple TV when using AirPlay, a hotspot, and a CyberGhost-compatible router. Just select any streaming server directly from the applicable device.
Use CyberGhost With Apple TV Today
Any method discussed in this guide will let you use Apple TV with CyberGhost.
However, I recommend Smart DNS if you want the best speeds.
Otherwise, using a CyberGhost-compatible router is the next best option.
