While surfing the web, I came across SpyOFF VPN, and my interest was piqued immediately.
Why?
SpyOFF VPN delivers okay speeds, robust security features, and allows an unlimited number of simultaneous connections. They have over 1,000 third-party servers in 40 countries around the world.
“Seems like a decent VPN service,” I thought to myself. And then, I immediately wanted to try it out.
However, I wasn’t ready to spend $7.79 – SpyOFF’s monthly asking price – just to try out a VPN service.
I noticed, though, that they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
And then I thought, “do they also offer a free trial?”
A SpyOFF VPN free trial would enable me to test out the service for myself without cost.
So I did some poking around on their site, and here’s what I found.
SpyOFF VPN Offers a 14-day Free Trial, But...
While it isn’t heavily advertised on their website, SpyOFF does offer a 14-day free trial, a rarity among VPN services these days.
However, I wasn’t too pleased to notice that you could only get free access to the service if also signed up for usenet.nl. It seems the free trial is powered by this service.
A simple Google search for ‘usenet.nl’ returns a plethora of articles and reviews claiming that the site is a scam.
These are mainly from disgruntled customers who got burned after signing up for a free trial (for other services) with the site and then had issues with canceling after the trial ended.
I’ve also had a not-so-great experience with usenet.nl, and while I was eventually able to cancel my subscription, I find it very difficult to recommend the service.
Nonetheless, I pushed ahead and clicked the ‘START FREE TRIAL’ button on SpyOFF’s signup page.
I was immediately redirected to usenet.nl and met with this grim message:

I was like, “What? Why is registration not possible at the moment?”
Despite multiple attempts to sign up, I was met with the same message, and no explanation as to why I couldn’t register was given.
Now, your mileage with this may vary, but I was pretty frustrated at this point.
Making matters worse, SpyOFF does not offer any form of live chat support.
The only way to contact them is via a ticket-based system.
And there’s no telling when you’ll get a response.
Conclusion
So what have we learned?
SpyOFF VPN offers a 14-day free trial for their service.
Bundled along with your trial is a subscription to usenet.nl, a site with an infamous reputation on the web.
Keep in mind also that there’s no way around the free trial.
You have to sign up for one even if you’re ready to drop cash right away.
If you can sign up for the service, you may have issues with canceling your subscription after the trial period ends.
You may not even get that far, however, And SpyOFF’s customer support probably won’t be there for you when you need them.
So I can’t recommend going down this route.
Free trials are a great way to find out if a service is right for you.
However, an even better way is to read honest reviews from experts who have tried out these services.
While a free trial costs you nothing financially speaking, you could save yourself a lot of time and hassle by going with a proven VPN service such as NordVPN.
