Surfshark is the best value VPN for Nigeria due to its fast speeds, Nigerian IP addresses, multiple global server locations, and security.

I tested 20+ other VPN providers where NordVPN, PureVPN, CyberGhost, and PrivateVPN made the final selection of the best VPNs to use in Nigeria, for Nigerians, and outside Nigeria.

So, continue reading if you want to stream Netflix US content, bypass MTN/Glo/Airtel surveillance, and unblock websites/online apps unavailable in Nigeria.

In 2021-2022, Nigerians experienced an unjust Twitter ban, the proposal of multiple social media bills to stifle free speech, different online clampdowns, and internet-facilitated arrests.

Online monitoring in Nigeria is so sensitive that independent journalists like David Hundeyin live in exile for fear of what would happen if they were reporting from the country.

Furthermore, Nigerian internet service providers (ISPs) like MTN, Glo, and Airtel must collect certain information from/about users, as failure to do so may result in severe sanctions.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling what data they collect, how long that data is kept, or who it’s given to. Considering the severity of online-related arrests in the country, it’s not far-fetched that these telcos and ISPs are also responsible.

On top of that, many online platforms keep Nigerians off their services when the government and Nigerian ISPs aren’t busy blocking access themselves.

Well, not anymore!

My top VPN services for Nigeria were explicitly chosen for their ability to protect your online anonymity, unblock geo-restrictions, and bypass harsh censorship.

If you’re in a hurry, look at the summary below of what you get from my VPNs for Nigeria to make a faster purchasing decision.

Want to Unblock Cash App, Zelle, Netflix US, and Other Services From Nigeria? Get These VPNs!

unavailable prompt in francetv for nigeria
A LOT of online services (Like FranceTV) are restricted in Nigeria and can only be accessed over a secure VPN

You can enjoy the many benefits of Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, and other fintech platforms from Nigeria. Also, you don’t have to jump through hoops to get the latest releases on Netflix US, UK, Canada, or other regions.

Choose any of these VPNs, and you’ll have the entire internet at your disposal:

  • Surfshark – Unblock content globally from a massive 3200+ server library across 95 countries. Moreover, you can connect unlimited devices to a single Surfshark account for the best overall price and value.
  • NordVPN – Get faster unblocking speeds and reliable encryption over NordVPN’s 5500+ servers in 59 countries. However, you’re missing a Nigerian server here.
  • PureVPN – Prevent MTN, Glo, Etisalat, or other ISPs from seeing and reporting your internet activity to the government over PureVPN. With 6500+ servers and Nigerian IP addresses, you can unblock almost anything!
  • CyberGhost10+ Nigerian servers combined with 7000+ servers in 91 countries to unblock local and global content. Don’t forget to try out the special streaming, gaming, and torrenting servers.
  • PrivateVPN – Employ a fast Stealth VPN mode to hide your VPN activity from Nigerian ISPs and the government without losing connection speed. Plus, there’s a Nigerian IP address in there.

These VPNs sound interesting, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

I suggest you read my mini-reviews and comparisons below. I detail how these VPNs fare for Nigeria and how they compare in specific categories.

Mini-Reviews & Comparisons of My Top VPNs for Nigeria

I put 20+ VPN service providers through speed, privacy, security, reliability, unblocking ability, and online anonymity tests. I ended up with a few VPNs, then compared the rest on price to ensure you’re not paying too much for a VPN.

Here are the five VPNs that made the final cut and what makes them must-haves in Nigeria.

Surfshark – 3200+ Servers Plus Nigeria IP Addresses on Unlimited Connections

Surfshark unblocks 1xbet over Nigerian IP address

Surfshark boasts 3200+ servers across the largest country count on this list, ensuring you:

  • Stand a better chance of finding a server in a preferred country to connect to.
  • Can unblock content available almost anywhere globally.
  • Retain access to content in your country if you’re traveling to Nigeria.
  • Never have to worry about server overload.
connected to nigeria server on surfshark

Fortunately, Surfshark also provides Nigerian IP addresses to:

  • Get local content on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other websites while still encrypting your internet traffic.
  • Protect your banking information when logging into GTBank, Access Bank, Wema Bank, or other bank apps over public Wi-Fi networks.
  • Secure your local connection using public Wi-Fi at Domino’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Café One, and other hotspot locations in Nigeria.
  • Play games against peers on local servers with less ping.
  • Retain access to Nigerian platforms and services if you’re traveling abroad.
  • Hide your online activity from MTN, Etisalat, Airtel, and other ISPs while still surfing the local web.

The listed features make it the best Nigeria VPN, but that’s not all.

These servers are useless if Surfshark isn’t great at unblocking content.

So, I tested the VPN across significant platforms and discovered you could get these platforms from Nigeria:

Content Example
Streaming services Netflix US, Amazon Prime, Crave TV, Voot, NRK TV, Hulu, ESPN+, etc.
Websites Wealthy Affiliates, Consumer Reports, etc.
Fintech services Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, etc.

Luckily, Surfshark is optimized for speed, especially with the WireGuard protocol. So, you don’t have to worry about slow Netflix or other media streams while using the VPN.

locating wireguard protocol in surfshark app

I would’ve preferred an in-house protocol like NordVPN provides, though, but using WireGuard isn’t a dealbreaker.

However, I was concerned that Surfshark is based in the Netherlands, a 14 Eyes country. The good news is that Surfshark is audited for its no-logs policy. So, it doesn’t collect any data about what you do online, what websites you visit, the files you download, or the people you talk to.

Also, Nigeria isn’t in any data-sharing alliance with the Netherlands, so the country can’t ask Surfshark to hand your data over.

Even if it did, Surfshark wouldn’t have any data to give to the Nigerian Police.

Moving on.

The last thing anyone wants is for their VPN connection to drop, revealing their actual IP address to MTN, Glo, Airtel, or any other internet service provider. That’s where the Surfshark kill switch cuts your internet data transmissions until the VPN is back up.

surfshark changes to kill switch

Thus, the Nigerian government and ISPs must stop hacking your live traffic to see what you’re doing online.

But Surfshark counters even that with AES 256-bit military-grade encryption, which is currently impossible to crack for even the most technologically-advanced countries!

Finally, considering Nigeria’s steep naira-dollar exchange rate, Surfshark was my top pick for its considerable price offering.

Besides being affordable, Surfshark can be bought by a group and used by unlimited users.

NordVPN – Good Value VPN for Nigeria With 5500+ Servers

streaming cbc with nordvpn
NordVPN unblocks geo-restricted services like CBC from Nigeria over relevant servers

NordVPN starts an impressive run with 5500+ servers, already edging Surfshark out in that department. However, it falls behind with a country count of 59 compared to Surfshark’s 95.

Still, that doesn’t stop NordVPN from being an excellent VPN for:

  • Unblocking Netflix US, Crave TV, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, NRK TV, and other streams in HD.
  • Getting access to fintech apps like Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App.
  • Bypassing censorship to websites blocking Nigerians from its servers.
  • Downloading content off of foreign servers.

Sadly, NordVPN doesn’t provide a Nigerian IP address.

So, you should resort to Surfshark or the other listed VPNs to get a Nigerian IP.

Alternatively, you could set up split tunneling to use NordVPN with Nigerian apps, bypassing the VPN on those location-sensitive platforms.

split tunneling settings on nordvpn

Even so, you can only use split tunneling on the PC and Android apps, and you won’t be protecting the traffic on those bypassed apps anyway.

However, a key advantage of NordVPN over Surfshark is speed, even though the difference isn’t too noticeable. Still, you can unblock content faster and suffer a lesser connection drop with NordVPN.

During my tests, I chalked this down to NordVPN building its NordLynx protocol as a WireGuard alternative for better speed, security, and in-app compatibility.

locating nordlynx vpn protocol on nordvpn

Despite that, Surfshark will get you better ping and speed if you’re in Nigeria and don’t mind a local server to browse the Nigerian web.

Fortunately, both VPNs can help you bypass throttling to unlock the promised speeds from Spectranet, Smile, MTN, Glo, and other ISPs.

Like Surfshark, NordVPN uses the industry standard AES 256-bit encryption to ensure the government, your ISP, or the Nigerian police can’t see your internet activity.

Since the Nigerian internet can be unstable, NordVPN also provides kill switches for IP/DNS leak protection if the VPN connection randomly drops.

app kill switch and internet kill switch settings on nordvpn

In fact, it’s the only listed VPN provider with dual kill switches: one for the entire internet and the other for specific apps.

Furthermore, NordVPN is based in Panama, beyond Nigerian jurisdiction, and outside the 14 Eyes country surveillance group.

So, the Nigerian police or government can’t force it to give up data on your online activities.

On top of that, NordVPN is an audited no-logs provider, meaning it won’t even have data to give if it wants to cooperate.

NordVPN won’t make a dent in your pocket, either.

Plus, you can share a single paid subscription among six users who get all the same features.

PureVPN – Nigerian IP Addresses and 6500+ Global Servers to Unblock Content

PureVPN offers native support for Nigeria, with over a dozen servers placed near the country’s capital in Suleja, Niger State.

There are also other P2P servers in Lagos, Nigeria, so users in the South West axis can enjoy lower ping, faster speed, and improved connectivity over the VPN.

Thus, you can:

  • Retain access to GTBank, Sterling Bank, Wema Bank, and other bank apps from home or abroad.
  • Continue streaming Iroko TV, IbakaTV, or other local video channels globally.
  • Encrypt your internet connection and protect yourself from scammers over public Wi-Fi networks.
  • Secure your internet activity from Nigerian ISPs without losing access to local content.
  • Prevent DDoS attacks without suffering high ping when playing games on local servers.
purevpn nigeria vpn

Furthermore, PureVPN impresses with 6500+ servers scattered around 78+ other countries. Thus:

  • Travelers to Nigeria can keep accessing the content in their country.
  • Nigerian citizens and dwellers can unblock content like Hulu, Netflix US, Amazon Prime Video, etc.
  • Local crypto traders can bypass restrictions on Binance, Paxful, and other P2P platforms.
  • You can play games in foreign online rooms you wouldn’t have access to.
  • The internet is 100% unlocked and available to you whenever!

It’s impressive that PureVPN doesn’t sacrifice speed to make these happen. In fact, you get exceptional speeds over its quantum-resistant servers or obfuscation protocols if you ever need that to bypass stronger online censorship.

locating quantum resistant servers on purevpn

In comparison, Surfshark and NordVPN are considerably slower when obfuscation is activated.

I confirmed that it offers AES 256-bit encryption and a kill switch to match. It’s also based in the British Virgin Islands.

Thus, the Nigerian government can’t force the audited no-logs provider to hand over your online activity data.

While no other VPN provider comes close to Surfshark’s unlimited simultaneous connection offering, PureVPN allows ten users/devices to connect simultaneously. So, you can share the cost of a single account with multiple users and enjoy the same protection.

CyberGhost – 10+ Nigerian Servers and 7000+ Global Server Network

cyberghost bet9ja unblock nigeria ip address
CyberGhost unblocks Bet9ja access over its Nigerian IP address

CyberGhost maintains 10+ Nigerian servers for multiple Nigerian IP addresses. However, they aren’t physically located in the country like PureVPN’s servers or P2P supported.

The VPN provider’s decision not to place the servers in the country is understandable, given this makes it possible to:

  • Prevent the government or Nigerian police from seizing the servers.
  • Ensure fast and consistent speeds by placing the servers in a faster location (such as the US) which reroutes to Nigeria.
  • Get better access to optimize the servers when need be.

But the lack of P2P support means you’ll get slightly slower data transfers between devices when connected to these Nigerian servers.

Still, that doesn’t remove the ability to unblock local bank apps, stream local Nigerian TV content, encrypt your data from major ISPs, and surf the web privately.

cyberghost nigeria leak test results
CyberGhost is secured against IP leaks, even on Nigerian servers

Moving away from local servers, CyberGhost boasts the largest server count on this list with 7000+ secure VPN servers. It also has the second highest country count, reaching 91, just behind Surfshark.

In application, this gives Nigerians access to

  • Streaming platforms like Hulu, DAZN, ESPN+, and BBC iPlayer not available in the country.
  • Specific libraries like Netflix US, Netflix UK, Amazon Prime Video US, and other content geo-blocked in the country.
  • Certain services on platforms like Paxful and Binance.
  • Financial services like Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, and PayPal not allowed in the country.
  • Websites like People’s Gazette, Wealthy Affiliates, and more.

Knowing that VPNs may cause a connection drop and the Nigerian internet isn’t ultra-fast, CyberGhost’s dedication to speed is laudable.

It even has dedicated streaming, torrenting, and gaming servers to get the best speeds and security features on these internet-based activities.

Like the other VPNs I listed, CyberGhost isn’t within Nigerian jurisdiction and can’t be compelled to hand over your data.

And thanks to its AES 256-bit encryption, you don’t have to worry about the government hacking your live traffic.

Additionally, you get the kill switch to prevent accidental IP or DNS leaks if the VPN connection drops randomly.

automatic kill switch settings on cyberghost

Even if the Nigerian police request data from CyberGhost, its no-logs policy means it won’t have anything to give them.

However, CyberGhost is still unaudited for these claims.

Though, it hasn’t been involved in any issues that would make me think otherwise.

The CyberGhost price isn’t too high, especially since you can connect 7 devices on a single subscription.

PrivateVPN – Fast Stealth VPN Service Over Nigerian IP Addresses

PrivateVPN unblocks Betway NG over its Nigerian servers

PrivateVPN offers the least server count on the list, but it’s enough to unblock local and global content. So, of the 200+ servers across 63 countries, you get servers in Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, etc.

privatevpn nigeria leak test results
Server in Lagos and Kaduna, Nigeria

Besides that, you also get other servers in prime locations like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and other top regions in the world.

Thus, you can unblock Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, DAZN, and other content from anywhere.

While PrivateVPN doesn’t have as many servers as other listed providers, it employs fast obfuscation (Stealth VPN) on its servers.

This is only second to PureVPN, which has the same speeds on its obfuscated servers.

locating stealth vpn settings on privatevpn

But why do you need obfuscation?

In cases of extreme censorship and VPN traffic monitoring, you’ll need obfuscation to hide your VPN traffic and bypass strict firewalls.

This was the case when ISPs like MTN, Glo, and Airtel blocked access to Twitter in Nigeria, and the government increased the censorship by threatening to arrest everyone using a VPN. With stealth VPN technology like this, it’s almost impossible to detect you’re using a VPN.

tweet about police device check in nigeria
Stealth VPN and obfuscation will help you bypass VPN traffic detection in these cases

If it’s that fast over stealth technology, you know it’s faster over non-stealth. However, it doesn’t have the WireGuard protocol, preferring OpenVPN (UDP & TCP) and IKEv2.

PrivateVPN bumps that up with AES 256-bit encryption to ensure your ISP or government can’t hack your live traffic. You also get a kill switch to prevent IP and DNS leaks if the VPN connection randomly drops.

choosing openvpn encryptions on privatevpn

The VPN is also based in Sweden, a 14 Eyes member country, and the provider isn’t audited for its no logs claims yet.

However, it hasn’t been involved in any scandals and can be trusted for the time being.

Also, it’s not like the Nigerian government has any ties with the Swedish government to ask for your data from PrivateVPN.

For all that, PrivateVPN is an affordable VPN provider offering ten simultaneous connections.

What’s the Internet Situation in Nigeria?

Nigeria has free internet space, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

The fact the current President Buhari administration declined to sign the Digital Rights and Freedom bill speaks volumes. Furthermore, the same government multiple times pushed for a social media ban and regulation bill.

Under the following headings, I briefly discuss the Nigerian internet space.

If you didn’t know you needed a VPN before, this might be your wake-up call.

Severe Geo-Blocking

It’s no news that many content creators restrict content access to Nigerians.

Some services like Netflix and YouTube offer partial access, allowing Nigerians to see some content while oblivious to others.

searching rainman movie on netflix
A TON of titles aren't available on Netflix Nigeria

For example, you won’t find titles such as Rain Man, Ambulance, Memory, Last Seen Alive, and more on Nigerian Netflix. Switch to Netflix US libraries, and you get most or all of these titles.

On the other hand, Nigerians were banned from the Wealthy Affiliates website for some time. After a while, it opened access to Nigerians, but on the condition they won’t get a free trial pass anymore.

post about nigerians having premium accounts available but no free accounts

Such severe geo-blocking extends to fintech platforms, preventing Nigerian IPs from accessing services like Cash App, Venmo, and Zelle.

Platforms like PayPal recently allowed Nigerians access to their platform, but even that’s restricted. After all, you can only send money but can’t receive it.

post about paypal unavailable in nigeria

We could stay here all day with new examples, but you get the gist.

Government Online Surveillance

The Nigerian government showed many times that it could track online users.

This is why Ben Hundeyin, an independent journalist exposing the rot in the country, chooses to live in exile instead.

tweet about police arrest in nigeria while using twitter

The Department of State Security (DSS) also picks up individuals by following their digital trail. A notable event happened under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration when an internet user was arrested for speaking against the First Lady.

tweet about data breach in nigeria

During the End Sars protests in October 2020, there were widespread reports of protesters getting picked after getting identified from protest videos.

Other online activists were even traced to their homes by the DSS and arrested unjustly.

Content Blocking and Restrictions

Twitter was banned in the country for 7 months because the platform removed a tweet issued by the Nigerian president which bordered on a threat.

The blatant ban, happening almost overnight, shows two things:

  • How much influence the government wields over the telcos and ISPs in the country.
  • How the government can operate without court oversight.
tweet about whatsapp preventing message screenshot

The government also ordered ISPs to ban access to some protest-related websites, pro-Biafra websites, and related platforms.

Fortunately, though, there’s no widespread content ban in the country.

Unsanctioned ISP Throttling

MTN, Smile, Spectranet, Airtel, Glo, and other ISPs in Nigeria get away with advertising a broadband speed and offering less than that. Besides the fact that they don’t offer truly unlimited plans, they still throttle your speeds without having reached any fair usage thresholds.

tweet about low internet speed using nigeria server

This makes it challenging to:

  • Download torrents faster.
  • Stream content in 4K quality.
  • Unblock and browse the web faster.

Given the non-regulatory behavior of the Nigerian government, this problem might not go away on its own anytime soon.

So, I chose my top VPNs for Nigeria around the many internet woes discussed here – and more not here. Find out the selection criteria below.

How I Tested and Chose the Best VPNs for Nigeria?

I chose and tested the best VPNs for Nigeria based on speed, security, online privacy, price, and servers. Here’s why you need to consider each criterion.

Speed

Choose a VPN optimized for speed to bypass ISP throttling in Nigeria.

Likewise, knowing that Nigeria doesn’t have widely-available ultra-fast internet, you don’t want a VPN that’ll slow your internet connection.

tweets about internet throttling on mtn
MTN, the major local ISP in Nigeria, fond of throttling the internet

Thus, the least fast servers on one of my chosen VPNs (Surfshark) can handle 1Gbps, which is plenty more than you get from Nigerian ISPs.

Security

Knowing that DSS and other security outfits can track online users for arrests, focus on VPNs that offer reliable security.

For starters, choose VPNs with industry-standard AES 256-bit encryption.

This ensures:

  • The government or your ISP can’t hack your live traffic.
  • No one outside the VPN tunnel can see your internet activity.
  • Your actual IP address never leaks to online servers, the Nigerian government, authorities, or the police.

Furthermore, ensure there’s an automatic kill switch against IP and DNS leaks.

Fortunately, my top VPNs for Nigeria use this level of encryption and add kill switches to it. In fact, NordVPN boasts TWO kill switches on the PC app.

Privacy

The Nigerian government can impose on MTN, Airtel, or other local ISPs to hand over your data. These logs collected by telcos and ISPs show:

  • Websites you visit
  • Content you download
  • Activity on visited websites, and more

So that this data doesn’t fall into the government’s hands anymore, choose a no-logs VPN provider.

connected to nigeria server on surfshark
Nigerian ISPs can't see your internet activity, even over a Nigerian IP address

That way, not even the VPN records what you’re doing online.

When the police go to your VPN provider, there won’t be any data to hand over.

As a safeguard, ensure the VPN provider isn’t in Nigeria’s jurisdiction.

Thus, Nigerian laws don’t apply, and the government can’t seize the company’s data illegally or via the courts.

Servers

Nigerians are restricted from a lot of online services. Luckily, global servers over reliable VPNs will unblock these.

So, you can watch US Netflix, unblock Hulu, stream sports on ESPN+, and get other region-specific content.

tweet about using vpn to stream bbc in nigeria
You need global servers to unblock a lot of content from Nigeria

However, don’t forget that a Nigeria IP address and server are just as necessary. Especially now that many Nigerians are migrating to the US, UK, and other countries, VPNs with local servers give you access to local content.

Thus, you can keep using your GTBank/Access Bank or other bank apps, unblock Nigerian websites, and stream local Nigerian content abroad.

Price

VPNs are often priced in USD, a currency which the naira continues to fall against.

So, consider the VPNs that satisfy ALL the criteria above and still don’t cost too much.

I considered the cost based on two factors, namely:

  • The basic price of the VPN
  • The simultaneous connections offered

Surfshark was the most impressive, offering unlimited simultaneous connections. Some of my selected VPNs also provide between 6-10 simultaneous connections, reducing the effective cost per user/device connected.

Can You Use Free VPN Providers in Nigeria?

Free VPNs are common in Nigeria but detrimental to your online security and privacy. These free VPNs record and sell your connection logs, are unreliable at unblocking content, usually introduce malware to your devices, and may even steal sensitive data from you.

post about vpn recommendations for west africa
Free VPNs will slow your internet connection, cause high ping and latency

Likewise, Nigerians often report free VPNs causing their devices to overheat, draining the battery faster while damaging the device hardware. It’s also common knowledge that free VPNs drain internet data faster while slowing your internet connection further.

Thus, it’s best to choose a reliable yet cheap VPN like Surfshark, which can be used on unlimited devices simultaneously.

How to Setup a VPN for Nigeria?

The correct sequence to set up a VPN for Nigeria is to enable the kill switch, choose a suitable VPN protocol, and connect to the best server.

The brief instructions below help to get that done.

Enable the Kill Switch

Always enable the VPN kill switch before connecting to any server.

That way, you’re protected whenever there’s a random VPN disconnection.

Here’s how:

  1. Launch your preferred VPN. I’ll use Surfshark for this example.
  2. Click “Settings.”
locating settings on surfshark app
  1. Open the “VPN Settings.”

  1. Toggle the “Kill Switch” on.

Choose the Right Protocol

Nigeria doesn’t face severe internet censorship, so you’ll most likely not need obfuscation protocols. Thus, the best protocol will be WireGuard (or its alternatives) for the best balance of speed and security.

Here’s how to select a protocol.

  1. Repeat steps 1-3 from above.
  2. Under “Protocol,” click the displayed connection protocol.

  1. Choose “WireGuard.”

Connect to a Suitable Server

While all VPN servers are protected by the same AES 256-bit encryption and will secure your internet experience, you can’t just connect to any server.

If in doubt, read this guide to why VPN server locations matter and whether it’s safe to connect to a Nigerian server.

Here’s how to connect to a preferred server:

  1. Launch your chosen VPN. I like Surfshark in Nigeria.
  2. Search for your desired country/city/server location. I’ll use Canada for this example.

  2. Test for leaks.

How to Get a Nigerian IP Address?

You can get a Nigerian IP address on VPNs like Surfshark.

These servers unblock local banking apps, stream local content, retain access to local social media feeds, and surf the web like in Nigeria.

Here’s how to get a Nigerian IP address:

  1. Choose a VPN with Nigerian servers. Surfshark offers that.
  2. Launch the VPN.
  3. Search for Nigeria.

What’s the Best Server to Connect to From Nigeria?

The best servers to connect to from Nigeria are usually the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. However, the best server to connect to depends on your intended internet-related activity.

For example, connect to Norway servers to unblock this kind of content from Nigeria

Thus, Nigerian servers may also be the best to connect to if you want to secure your internet connection without losing access to local content.

What to Do if Your VPN Isn’t Working in Nigeria? (Troubleshooting Guide)

Don’t panic if your VPN isn’t working in Nigeria. You may have chosen the wrong VPN, set up the VPN incorrectly, used the wrong protocol, or connected to an unsuitable server.

Here are quick fixes to try if your VPN isn’t working in Nigeria:

  • Choose a reliable VPN. Using a reliable VPN alone solves most of your problems. If in doubt, choose Surfshark.
  • Update your VPN app. Check for an update in your local app store. Download and install it if there’s one to fix bugs that may be causing connection issues.
  • Choose appropriate VPN servers. Your choice of VPN server matters. Ensure you choose the right one for your needs.
  • Reconnect to the VPN location. Your VPN may not have established a strong connection with your chosen server. So, disconnect and reconnect again.
  • Enable the kill switch. If your IP and DNS still leak after connecting to the VPN, you may not have enabled the kill switch yet. Check that it’s active.
  • Clear browser cache and cookies. These may interfere with your VPN’s unblocking ability.
  • Use incognito mode. A viable alternative if you don’t want to clear the cache and cookies.
  • Speak with customer support. Fortunately, my top VPNs for Nigeria offer 24/7 customer support and will help you troubleshoot issues in real-time.
