You can play Elden Ring with Surfshark on PC by purchasing a Surfshark subscription and connecting to a server.

- Open the settings menu by clicking the cog icon on the left-side menu.
- Open “VPN Settings” and select “WireGuard” after clicking on the “Protocols” drop-down menu.
- Open the locations section by clicking the shield icon on the left-side menu.
- Select a server manually or choose between “Nearest Location” or “Fastest Location.”
- That’s it! Now you can continue your progress on the Altus Plateau by bypassing ISP speed throttling or playing Elden Ring’s from a geo-restricted country like China.
How to Play Elden Ring With Surfshark on Console?
Surfshark ended its SmartDNS service in February 2026, so typing a Surfshark DNS address into the console no longer works. For PlayStation, Surfshark now documents three routes: a VPN router, a Windows PC, or a Mac sharing its connection over an Ethernet cable.
I went with the router, since the console stays protected without a computer running. For this demo, I’m using my PS4:
- Get a Surfshark subscription and make sure your router’s firmware supports WireGuard or OpenVPN.
- Open your Surfshark account dashboard and go to “VPN” > “Manual setup” > “Router.”
- Choose “WireGuard,” click “I don’t have a key pair,” and generate one. Save both keys, because Surfshark won’t show them again.
- Pick a nearby server location for low ping and download its configuration file.

- Switch on your console and open “Settings.”
- Select “Set Up Internet Connection” under “Network.”
- Choose “Use Wi-Fi” under “How do you want to connect to the network?” (or “Use a LAN Cable” if the PS4 is wired to the router).
- Select “Easy,” then pick your router’s Wi-Fi network and sign in.
- Choose “Test Internet Connection,” and play in Mountaintops of the Giants without any worry!
What’s the Best Surfshark Server for Elden Ring?
All of Surfshark’s servers are best for Elden Ring. However, connecting to a faraway server will result in a slightly higher ping and slower speeds.
Thus, I recommend a nearby Surfshark server in a location where Elden Ring isn’t blocked.
I also tested the game using WireGuard by connecting to a server in Singapore.
Here is the result (my base speed was 180 Mbps with pings between 10 and 60 ms):
