The official status

Discord in Turkey

An Ankara criminal court ordered Discord blocked on 8 October 2024, at prosecutors’ request, over suspected child sexual abuse and obscenity offences by some users. The order was announced the next day, amid outrage over a double murder in Istanbul that some Discord users praised.

Turkey’s transport minister also said Discord had refused to share user data, such as IP addresses, with Turkish security units.

In June 2026 the minister said Discord had largely met Turkey’s demands to remove content and would “probably” reopen after some time, but no date was given and no decision lifting the block has been published.

What our daily test shows

The court order covers every internet provider in Turkey, and an independent test on Turkcell Superonline on 7 October 2026 found Discord blocked there too. One of our test machines on that network gets through anyway, most likely through a VPN or a filter-dodging tool, so whenever the rest of Turkey is blocked we count Superonline as blocking.

How to use Discord in Turkey

A VPN connects you through a server in another country, so a block on Discord in Turkey no longer applies. Where VPNs themselves are blocked, you need one that can disguise its traffic, and you should set it up before you travel.

History

Changes for Discord in Turkey

No confirmed changes since monitoring began on 29 Sep 2026. When a block appears or lifts, and a re-check on several machines agrees, it shows up here.

Method

How we test

  • Every day, test machines on Türk Telekom and Turkcell Superonline home connections open discord.com.
  • A failure counts only when it happens twice on the same network, while the site opens from other countries.
  • A change is published only after re-checks a few hours later and again the next day, on several machines per provider, confirm it. It’s dated from the first sighting.
  • Test machines caught getting around blocks, through a VPN or a filter-dodging tool, are set aside.
  • We test the website over home broadband. The app, calls and mobile networks can behave differently.
