Background
Where Roblox is restricted, and why
Almost every government that has acted against Roblox cites children: adults contacting them through chat, sexual or violent content, harassment and scams. A court in Adana ordered it blocked across Turkey in August 2024; Iraq’s communications ministry banned it in October 2025, also calling it at odds with “social values and traditions”; and Egypt’s media regulator had it blocked in February 2026. Russia, which blocked it from December 2025 to June 2026, also cited material promoting extremism and content on “LGBT themes”.
Gulf states used Roblox’s chat as leverage. Qatar blocked Roblox on 13 August 2025 after calls on social media, and Oman’s regulator confirmed a ban that June. Kuwait blocked it later in August and lifted the ban in October 2025, after Roblox agreed to switch in-game chat off completely and remove content offensive to local customs. Saudi Arabia’s media regulator ordered text and voice chat disabled in September 2025, and the UAE agreed similar changes.
Some limits are Roblox’s own or come from licensing. Luobulesi, the Chinese version it launched with Tencent, closed its servers in December 2021, and in February 2026 Roblox said it still wasn’t available while the two build its next version. In Vietnam, VNG has published Roblox locally since May 2024, while independent tests found the global site blocked on Vietnamese networks from June 2026. Roblox said in June 2026 that chat would stay off in most of the Middle East until its Arabic-language moderation matures.
Newer rules limit children’s Roblox accounts rather than the whole platform. Indonesia began deactivating under-16 accounts on “high risk” platforms, Roblox included, from 28 March 2026, while Australia’s under-16 ban, in force since December 2025, left Roblox out. The Philippines considered blocking Roblox but dropped the plan on 7 April 2026, after it presented stricter monitoring and age-appropriate content controls. Russia restored access in June 2026 once Roblox began restricting games by age group.

How we test
Test machines on the two biggest home-internet providers in most countries open the homepage every day.
A failure counts only when it happens twice on the same network, while the site opens from other countries.
A change is published only after re-checks a few hours later and again the next day, on several machines per provider, confirm it. It’s dated from the first sighting.
Test machines caught getting around blocks, through a VPN or a filter-dodging tool, are set aside.
We test websites, mostly over home broadband. Apps, calls and mobile networks can behave differently.
Turkey has blocked it since August 2024 and Egypt since February 2026, and Qatar, Oman and Iraq blocked it in 2025. Russia’s ban ran from December 2025 to June 2026 and Kuwait’s from August to October 2025; both ended after Roblox accepted their conditions.
