No. China hasn’t blocked the global Roblox site, which opens there, but there’s no licensed Chinese version: Roblox’s Chinese app, Luobulesi, has been offline since December 2021.

The official status

Roblox in China

Roblox launched a Chinese version, Luobulesi, with Tencent in 2021, after Tencent got a government publishing licence for it. It closed its servers on 8 December 2021, about five months after launch.

Roblox’s annual report, filed in February 2026, says Luobulesi “is not currently available to users in China” while Roblox and Tencent work on the next version.

The global site isn’t blocked: independent tests reached roblox.com normally from mainland China in 2026. How well the global game plays from there isn’t documented; in early 2022 many Chinese players were reported to use VPNs to reach it.

Method

How we test

  • Every day, test machines on China Unicom and China Mobile home connections open www.roblox.com.
  • A failure counts only when it happens twice on the same network, while the site opens from other countries.
  • A change is published only after re-checks a few hours later and again the next day, on several machines per provider, confirm it. It’s dated from the first sighting.
  • Test machines caught getting around blocks, through a VPN or a filter-dodging tool, are set aside.
  • We test the website over home broadband. The app, calls and mobile networks can behave differently.
